Regardless of the state`s specific requirements for physician supervision, collaboration with an NP requires time, effort, knowledge, medical decision-making and risk. It is a job for which the doctor must be compensated. The remuneration of the collaborative physician implies that the AFN is not an employee of the physician and that he is really an independent provider. If the AAP is an employee, then this is a contentious issue and no compensation should be paid to the physician. The remuneration of the collaborative physician focuses on three basic tasks: I have been working as a Locums practitioner for about 2 years. I want to stay in Indiana and I`ve found a place to train. I have not yet found a collaborative doctor. It`s always a sensitive point. I would have liked to find a practice like this in Minnesota, where I could practice independently.
I don`t know where to start, and I`m going to have to work soon. The patients and the money are there, but the doctors are hard to find. The PK is very frustrating and restrictive in Illinois. We collect data/information on the monthly amount, percentage, etc. that APN doctors must pay for the cooperation agreement. If someone is willing to share, I`d be happy to hear from you. Some of the legislators I spoke to at that meeting surprised us very much that we had to pay the collaborative doctor. This issue must be public to legislators who adopt the rules that limit our practice, which ultimately limits patients` access to health care. We look forward to hearing from you. PNs, physicians and employers often ask how many doctors should be compensated, if at all, for being an employee of the NP. The time required for the doctor varies depending on whether the NP is new or experienced, and the specific donations of state law.
That is all for the time being. We will seek a cooperating doctor, CP payment (as well as abuse insurance) and agreements next time. Some states have a somewhat standard agreement in which the doctor and the NP have few details to decide and fulfill. You may require the doctor to meet with the NP at a specified frequency or for the doctor to check a certain percentage of the patient`s charts. Other countries offer more leeway in the details of cooperation. The specific obligations that NPPs are allowed to fulfill vary from state to state, but generally include assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well as prescribing medications. In many states, PNs can practice on their own. However, most states (38 countries from 2019) are asking NPNs for a cooperation agreement with a doctor.
